The Bose Ultra Open Earbuds are a totally new kind of audio wearable device: premium sound built into a cuff-shaped earbud that doesn’t cover your ear. Proprietary Bose OpenAudio technology allows the earbuds to play rich, immersive audio privately even though the speakers on the earbuds sit a short distance from your ear canal, leaving you open to the sounds of your surroundings. The cuffs hook around the outside of your ear so gently that you might forget they’re even there, so you can leave them on all day, always ready for music, calls, or videos.

The Open Earbuds were designed from the ground up to give you a soundtrack for your life: to let you enjoy your music without blocking your ears, in a shape so comfortable you can almost forget you’re wearing any earbuds at all. The engineering of these earbuds was a matter of squeezing Bose OpenAudio technology — which projects deep, rich sound across a short distance of open space to your ear canal — into a shape that could grip your ear extremely gently, leave your ear open to outside sounds, and contain a long-lasting battery. This design process resulted in the Open Earbuds’ unique shape, inspired by ear cuff jewelry. The light-as-air flex arm connects the audio portion of the earbud to a battery barrel that goes behind your ear, providing just enough grip to keep the earbuds secure on any size ear.

Yes. The Open Earbuds are excellent for exercise, thanks to their confident stability on your ear, powerful sound, and open design. Bose’s unique OpenAudio technology allows air to keep your ears cool and dry while you enjoy both your music and sounds from your environment, such as city sounds, nature, input from a coach or workout partner, or sounds that help you play a sport such as tennis or basketball.

Yes. The combination of skin-safe materials, a fully open design, long battery life, and unparalleled comfort means you can leave the earbuds on all day, always connected to your device and ready to produce rich audio the moment you need it.

In stereo mode, the earbud batteries will provide up to 7.5 hours of play time or 48 hours of standby time (no audio playing). For all-day wear that involves a mix of audio listening and standby, the battery life will vary depending on the proportion of each. For example, 5 hours of audio would leave 10 hours of standby life remaining. And if the battery does run out, a quick 10-minute charge in the case will add up to 2 hours of play time.

Yes. You can slide the earbud slightly up or down the outside of your ear to adjust for comfort, preferred sound balance, looks, or to avoid interference with jewelry.

Yes. The Open Earbuds are uniquely designed to attach to a part of the ear that does not interfere with most glasses, hats, and piercings. If your accessories touch the product, that’s no problem as long as the earbuds remain comfortable and secure. The magnets that help the earbuds attach to their charging case may occasionally stick slightly to jewelry made of ferromagnetic metals like nickel; this is not damaging to the earbuds or the jewelry, but if bothersome can be avoided by slightly sliding the earbud up or down the ear, away from the jewelry.

OpenAudio is a proprietary Bose technology that allows audio played a short distance from your ear canal to be rich, deep, and private — without sealing your ear. Each earbud uses a tiny dipole transducer system engineered for loud-and-clear personal audio that stays at the ear — instead of going everywhere else.

It’s easy to hear the difference Bose OpenAudio makes by comparing the power of the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds with a traditional set of earbuds held slightly outside your ear. If you remove the traditional earbud from your ear canal and hold it near your ear at the same distance that the Open Earbuds sit, you’ll notice the much greater volume and richer bass from the Open Earbuds.

Bose OpenAudio directs rich, deep audio into the ear canal while using proprietary technology to minimize sound spillage in other directions. In most environments and at most listening levels, people around you won’t hear a thing. If you turn up the volume all the way in a very quiet environment, others may hear that something is playing from your earbuds, but they won’t be able to hear any detail unless they get very close.

No. By design, the Open Earbuds don’t block out the world or have noise cancelling, so you can enjoy your music while staying open to the sounds of the world around you. They do have an automatic volume control feature, available in the Bose Music app, that helps you hear your music evenly as your environment changes from quiet to loud and back.

Bluetooth multipoint, a feature that will allow the Open Earbuds to connect to two source devices at the same time, will be available through a software update coming later this year. Be sure to set up your earbuds with the Bose Music app to receive software updates.

The Bose Music app also allows you to customize the shortcut function on each
earbud’s button, and one of the available options is Switch Source. Setting a
shortcut to Switch Source will enable you to switch between previously connected
Bluetooth source devices with a press and hold of the earbud button without
needing to take the earbuds off.

Ratings and Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from COMFORT! So far really please with this product. They are earbuds you didn’t know you needed. Previously I would use QC noise cancelling earbuds at the office and gym. Now these are the go to ones to use. All day comfort and never needing adjusting. Once you find the fitment place on the ear for you forget they are there. No more pausing and or removing an earbud to clearly hear someone, or missing something someone said. The buttons are easy to use and give you positive feel of pressing a button versus just touching an object (earbud). Once weather is warmer I really feel these will be the earbuds to use while cycling as it will allow me to hear my surroundings while enjoying the music at the same time. Sound is typical Bose quality deep rich music - good bass and clear. The big difference the the staying in place and all day comfort they provide.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love how they feel and sound I fell in love with the Open Earbuds on day one. They immediately solved two of my complaints with other earbuds: 1) Comfortability for long periods. I don’t find most earbuds comfortable for hours of wear but I forget that I have on. Comfortable but secure. I have done hot yoga and spin classes with absolutely no problems, adjusting, or discomfort. 2) Block out other noise I need/want to hear. I can be listening to music at the office and still hear when someone calls my name or walking my dog yet hear a car approaching from behind. No longer do you have to do the one earbud thing so you can have one ear open. These two issues are solved without compromising the sound quality. Now, these are not for everyone or every application. You want to mow your lawn while listening to a podcast – these are not for you. You want to cancel the sound of your annoying coworker slurping their hot coffee – not the best for that either unless you turn up the volume on your music. But if you want to have a comfortable, quality sound while still being able to hear the instructor at your workout class – this is what you have been waiting for!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You will forget you have them on! I have been wearing my Ultra Open EarBuds for a few weeks now and I love them. Sound quality is what I expect from Bose products and it did not disappoint. The earbuds are so light in the ears. I forget I have them on at times. They are very attractive and I have received many compliments. I have the white pair. It took a few wears to get used to putting them on since I have long curly hair but well worth it when I got the hang of it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unique and light Design -earphones of choice After little less than 2 weeks of use. I think overall unique design, call quality could use some improvement while talking to others -having them being able to hear you on the other end. Music quality is good would like to see more improvement of options to improve sounds with louder volume and more bass. These headphones are good for any occasion from a casual walk to the store, working out or lounging out at the house.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from In a League of Their Own They just are. You may balk at the lack of noise-canceling or the fact that they just “hang” on your ears… I’m here to tell you— these are amazing.

A bit about me. I have tiny ears. I’m a petite woman. Even the smallest AirPods do not fit and give me a massive earache. To add “injury to insult” (yes, that was intentionally backward)… I have piercings. I have inner ear piercings on both sides. This doesn’t exactly set me up for success for earbuds. I had given up on that very idea. I have Bose Quiet Comfort headphones. But they’re not ideal for every situation. Enter these magical devices that Bose made just for me. They did, right? I’m a woman. And I'm a mom. These are two roles that typically don’t lend to many noise-cancelling opportunities. If I’m in the other room folding laundry? I WANT to hear if little Jimmy fell off the top bunk for the 3rd time today. What if he broke his arm that time? If I’m jogging the trails? I WANT to hear if a creepy guy is starting to encroach on my space and breathing heavier. Ew. These are not perfect. I’m not in sales, and I’m not about to sell you on these. There is a learning curve to putting them “on.” Especially if you have piercings, like I do. On my tragus side, there is no issue. I’m still working with my daith— the jury is out. Positioning is tricky to get comfortable on that side. From what I can tell, you cannot wear these with dangly lobe earrings or anything of that nature. But—the beautiful part is that the earbud is not exactly static. These have a ton of flexibility to them. When you get it right, it legitimately feels like you have nothing on your ear. Almost weightless. Do you have a hearing aid? This is your earbud. I’m really happy you finally have a quality product accessible to you. They hold a charge for a long time— I haven’t even been able to drain them to tell you just how long. While on the subject of charging, I will tell you that I am both surprised and disappointed that the charger is not wireless. Especially when my husband’s older Bose earbuds are. Dunno what happened there. It’s a small drawback, and I got over it… The sound quality is what you would expect from Bose…it’s excellent. The immersion mode is cool and something I enjoyed more than I thought I would. The app is great (I already had it from my Comfort Headphones, and it picked up the Ultra Open Earbuds with no problem). Phone calls? Answering calls is not intuitive to me, but that’s a non-Apple curve I’m willing to learn. Zoom calls? All good. No issues thus far. That’s it for now! If I could rate it a 4.5, I would. Since there's no in-between I rounded up because I love them. See pictures for fit with my jewelry to give you an idea of what it might look like with yours. Cheers!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Headphone Design I Didn't Know I Needed I've had these headphones for about 2wks now and while at first I really wasn't sure about them, I am now in love with them. The design is so innovative and something I didn't know I had been looking for for a long time. As a graduate student and someone who likes to workout I wear my headphones a lot and I wear them in a variety of settings including studying, walking to class and workouts. I have always had a hard time with headphones fitting in my ears due to the cartilage of each of my ears being two different shapes. One would fit perfect and the other would fall out constantly. These headphones fit perfect. Since they clip around the outside of your ear each headphone can bend how I need. I can go an entire workout and not adjust them once. I also like the design because with my ear piercings I can fit the headphones around them and they don't push the back of my earrings into my head. Depending on what you're using them for the only con is that they are not noise cancelling. I personally don't mind a little background noise most of the time and I like that I can be more aware of my surroundings when going on walks, but it all depends on your personal preference. Even without the noise canceling the sound is still the high quality Bose sound that got me hooked on their products in the first place.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally an earbud for exercising! I have been using the open earbuds for about a week and they are exactly what I've been looking for for many years! I can wear the earbuds while wearing a headband and winter hat and they don't jam into my ears. The way they are designed allows me to hear traffic and other background noise without compromising the sound of my music, podcast, etc. I've found that I have to turn the volume up higher than I normally would because of the background noise, but the sound quality is just as clear with high volume as low volume. Most importantly, I feel that my safety is not compromised as I can hear what's happening in my surroundings while exercising outside.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Deep tones and crystal-clear audio As an avid music enthusiast and podcast lover, I recently had the pleasure of trying out Bose, Ultra Open Earbuds and it exceeded all my expectations. From the moment I put them on, I was transported into a world of rich, deep tones and crystal-clear audio. One of the most remarkable aspects of Ultra Open Earbuds is its ability to make you forget you’re even wearing earbuds. The sound quality is so immersive that it feels like you’re right there in the room with the podcast hosts or front row at your favorite band’s concert. Whether I was listening to my favorite playlist or catching up on the latest episode of my go-to podcast, every sound felt crisp, detailed, and enveloping. Moreover, the comfort of wearing Ultra Open Earbuds will grow on you. At first you will question the design but the unique fit makes it easy to wear them for extended periods without any discomfort. Whether I was lounging at home or on the go biking, they stayed in place and provided uninterrupted audio opportunities. Plus being able to hear your surroundings while being active makes the Ultra Open Earbuds a safer choice over noise canceling devices. In conclusion, Bose, Ultra Open Earbuds delivers an audio experience that goes beyond just listening—it immerses you in the sound, making every moment feel like a personal concert or private podcast session. If you’re in the market for earbuds that prioritize both quality and comfort, look no further than Bose Ultra Open Earbuds. Highly recommended for music lovers and exercise enthusiasts alike.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally, earbuds I can wear all day! I was never genetically gifted to comfortably wear any pair of buds. I've tried so many of them over the years, and they all either hurt my ears or fall out while I'm active. These open earbuds are a game-changer! They're incredibly comfortable – I forget they're even there. Plus, they stay in place no matter what I'm doing, from running to weightlifting. The sound quality is fantastic, though call quality could use a bit of improvement (definitely not a deal breaker). Hands down the best earbuds I've owned!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing open ear headphones! Bose did it again! Pros: No touch sensor. There is a button that you can customize instead, it is hidden seamlessly. If you need to adjust them while they are in your ear and you are on a call, you won't drop your call. You still hear your surroundings and sound quality is amazing. They have several features to customize the sound based on your day to day and are very comfortable to wear. Cons: These aren't noise canceling. Unable to answer calls by touch. No find my headphones feature. These headphones are game changers! I go to the gym at 5AM, and most of the time, it's still dark outside. For me to be able to hear my surroundings while walking is really nice. The same goes for if I'm listening to a book or music while working, but I still need to hear my boss or if my phone rings. I love how the background is suddle, and I can still hear my music primarily. The best part is that I don't have to sacrifice sound quality. When I was listening to my favorite book, the author is narrating, and I swear I can feel her words, I can feel the pain in her voice. OMG! I tried them on my daughter, just curious if they fit her ears, she wont take them off now! They fit, and she literally loves them! Of course, the volume is down, but she is now playing while listening to her favorite songs. She's a really big music person. She has even started singing the songs and she is only 2! It's so cute! Overall I would give them a 9/10! Only thing they are missing is the find my headphones feature.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worthy New Earbud Contender! As an urban dweller in the PNW who cycles, long walks, and loves to listen to music - I was delighted to use these open earbuds through a typical day of remote work and outdoor adventure. (Toggling through different devices and sound settings is customizable using the app.) However, right after receiving my buds, I ended up flying to San Francisco for a client meetup. I generally prefer using my Bose QuietComfort Headphones in noisy environments (particularly on an airplane), but opted instead to try out my new listening device - which fit lightly in my coat pocket, and could be easily used for more than one function on my trip. Initial Impressions: First things first, I’m impressed by the small eco-friendly packaging and ease of information found during unboxing. There is a QR code on the left tab which directs you to a setup guide. The right tab has shorthand instructions easy to grasp. Getting started was straightforward and took maybe 1-2 minutes? If you use the setup guide, you’ll see there are some fit instructions, which were helpful for me since I had never used an open earbud like this one. My initial assessment of the fit was that it felt unusual, but after having them on for a few minutes I quickly forgot about them. The wrap around nature makes them feel secure without any pinching sensation. While I could at first feel a small amount of the product near my ear canal, I would say it was no more present than using a standard earbud. I found the introduction to the different audio settings in the setup guide on the app to be quite informative and was eased into the customization options which are well worth your time. The preprogrammed user settings were frankly very intuitive, as was the general use of these earbuds. Personally, I only added a couple of button prompts to keep things simple, while leaving the other preprogrammed ones as they were on arrival. The case is a nice size and weight with the magnetic pull inside being comfortably strong, allowing the earbuds to saddle instantly, making charging a breeze. Performance: The sound quality is completely as expected from a Bose product. The ‘Immersion’ setting was absolutely my favorite. It’s like “stereo” but better; living up to its name, if you close your eyes you can practically feel the artist’s sweat during a long rift. I found if I turned the sound up to max volume, I could still hear things happening around me but not very well. By nature, these are not intended to block surrounding noise. Listening at a normal volume, I could easily hear gate instructions at the airport and any announcements while on the plane. (A double-edged sword. Why do we have to sit through long advertisements by flight attendants for credit cards now?) In the future I will likely stick to the Quiet Comfort for the plane ride, but will keep these in my pocket for the rest of my journey. The ‘Immersion’ setting has an interesting feature - when you move your head, the music stays front facing but then moves to the direction of your head if you keep it faced that same way for a few seconds. This added to the feeling that I was at a concert, which was kinda fun. Critical Considerations: Removing one or both earbuds does not stop the audio. I’m not sure I care about this exactly, but it is worth a mention. Unlike Apple earbuds, moving from one device to another is not seamless. (Though you can toggle with an earbud button which makes this pretty effortless.) I found the ‘Stereo’ mode allowed for the music to be played with a louder sound quality than when in ‘Immersion’ mode. The ‘Bass Boost’ was noticeably better in ‘Stereo’ mode verses ‘Immersion’ mode as well. Lastly, there's an amazing lot of features in the Bose Music app. I would love for Bose to add a Widget so I can add it to my shortcut menu on my iPhone to get me to the app and its features more quickly. Final Thoughts: These are an amazing product, especially for people who due to safety concerns need to hear more of what is happening around them. You do not lose any sound quality or depth of experience during regular activity while gaining peace of mind. Additionally, I feel the fit quality will meet the needs of a wide range of ear shapes and sizes. I heartily recommend these earbuds!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ultra in All Regards These Ultra open earbuds are excellent for those who want great sound quality but also want to be aware of the environment. The audio is very well balanced throughout various genres of music and robust mid and low range at 70%. The compromise comes in at about 75% and above volume as these are not sealed. The great part about these open ear buds is that it plateaus the frequency so that it does not distort the audio even up to the full volume if you want to blast your eardrums out. The mids and lows fade out with the abundance of the vocals at max volume. This open earbuds replaced my daily pair of the Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds amongst other products that I phased out as my dailys and put to specific use like travel, work out, gaming, movie watching. I previously used the Bose Ultra headphones, Sony SRS-NS7, Sony Inzone Buds, Bose Altos with blue light lense, Razer Anzu, Sony WH and WF series. Surprisingly, the clamp does not become noticeable even after multiple hours of continuous use. It is like wearing an earing or an ear cuff and just blends in without fatigue. The Bose Ultra Open Earbuds Ultra crush the competition and a well rounded product for daily use. I would recommend this to anyone!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My new "go to" Out of the box, I had some difficulty putting the earbuds in. I didn't quite understand the directions, this kind of made me feel like I was getting a bit old. But I kept at it and got them on and adjusted to a comfortable position. By the end of the first day - I was forgetting I had them on. I wear my earbuds all day long as I work from home. I switch from MS Team meetings on the PC to listening to Sirius or an Audiobook then back to a meeting with ease. The quality of the sound is great. The earbuds also allow me to hear what is going on around me with ease. Dog and husband can no longer sneak up on me when I'm working. I haven't had an issue with losing an earbud, or dropping a call - These are my new "go to" for all occasions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awareness and BeautiFULL Sound! Right out of the box, the ULTRA Open Earbuds were easy to put on, and adjust for comfort and sound. I had no issues connecting to the Bose Music App, and I was impressed right off the bat with the full sound AND awareness of my surroundings! In the workplace, I was able to enjoy my own daily soundtrack, while still being fully able to converse with my staff and clientele. In the woods, hiking off-trail and alone, I was happy to have a better awareness of my surroundings and the sounds of the forest, while still enjoying some music accompanying me anywhere I went... this is also where I enjoy the "motion" sound setting - it was like walking through a symphony in the forest... with accompanying light rain. These buds have me building playlists again! 5+ Stars.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good features Purchased about a month ago. I'm enjoying the product because I wear glasses, and it doesn't irritate the top of my ear trying to wear them both at once. I do have trouble with the other person hearing me sometimes, while on calls. Outside sounds tend to drown out music, even when it's at high volume. Debating on keeping or returning.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty good so far! My first set of wireless earbuds. Sound is AMAZING. No comparison to other types I’ve sampled. I’m still getting the hang of best placement on ears and use of buttons. But one thing I have noticed is the right one has NOT connected properly (randomly). I always charge them at the same time, so not sure why it has done that on right side only 3 times. And, because I’m paranoid about losing one or both while I’m wearing them, I actually added my own thin fabric string that goes around each bud and around back of my neck. Not visible, but gives me a little assurance if one pops off it will stay connected to the fabric string.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Another great comfy ear phone ! I bought this to check it out as to sound , Bass and features compared to on ear and in ear phones that I owned .. verdict .. very comfortable , won’t even feel that it’s hanging on my ears . Only flaws so far is kept on cutting off during listening then troubleshooting was resetting it as recommended.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cool new headphones! I bought these a month / month and a half ago and have used them every day since. I work out several times a week with these and wear them walking around the city and on my commutes. They are great. Off the bat, I have to echo the connectivity issues that other reviewers stated. I experienced it more in the first couple of weeks - I haven’t had that much issue with it as of late, admittedly, but it is so annoying when they disconnect randomly. In my opinion, for $300 in 2024, Bluetooth connectivity should be the least of my worries… that’s why I took off one star. that being said, they do not budge AT ALL and the sound quality is amazing!! 4+ mile runs and they don’t budge an inch. I’m on the subway and despite their lack of noise-canceling I can hear my music perfectly clear on medium to high volume. They are so extremely comfortable there have been several times over the last couple of weeks where I’ve nearly entered the shower with them on because I completely forgot they were there. The product is great! Would recommend, especially if you’re into more experimental / newer products like this :)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great design I bought this a few weeks ago. I love the way they sit in your ear but I wish it was a bit tighter and louder. Sound is very good. Nothing ever stays in my ear so these are perfect for hiking and daily stuff. Would recommend

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Appearance, style, lightness, and comfort I bought this about 3 weeks ago I am happy with the appearance, style, lightness, color of the earbuds. The features that I am not happy about are the level of loudness and the noise cancelling. It is not loud enough like my quiet comfort and other Bose earbuds I had in the past. I only buy Bose headsets and speakers, but the Ultra Noise is my least favorite. I can hear the noise around when I have it on in the gym. A lot of noises on the end of the caller, according to them it was very sensitive, and they could hear all the noises around. I hate to return it as it is very comfortable and stays especially when I am running. I am thinking of returning this.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product with one major problem. Great for workout. Does not move while running. There is slight tight fit to the ear that can be uncomfortable if not in the right position. Biggest miss is the loud hissing sound. You don't hear it while you are listening a loud music But it is noticeable when you listen podcast or low volume music. If you are not sensitive to the hissing sound, this is great product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost Perfect I bought these ear buds 3 weeks ago and am absolutely thrilled with them EXCEPT for the lack of battery capacity. I can only get about 4-5 hours of use before they need charging. Doing chores around the house these ear buds are amazing as you can hear your music AND hear conversations or whatever is going on around you. If it weren't for the battery life I would give these buds 5 Stars! They are BOSE quality!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I listen to my Spanish lesson while walking! I’ve only had my earbuds for a few weeks but I will admit I love using them! I wanted a good set that wouldn’t hurt my ears and because this pair simply wraps around my ears instead of going inside, they are pain free. They were easy to pair with my phone and the sound quality is excellent. I like that I can switch listening modes from sitting, to walking, to outdoors, etc. The only ding I will give them is I am not able to control the volume on them. It worked the first day but everyday after I’ve had to set the volume on my iPhone. I even removed the Bose app from my phone and started all over but that didn’t work. So if I’m outside or doing whatever, I can’t increase or decrease the volume unless I have my phone with me.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Awesome sound, less than awesome case These fit my use case PERFECTLY. I wear them at work 8 hours a day, every day. They're very comfortable and sounds great! I tried multiple pairs of "ear clip" style buds and these by far sounded the best. The only draw back is the case. For the price I wish the case was better. It's compact but the lack of wireless charging is a let down. Also, the lid/hinge is not as robust as I'd like. The way the lid can twist while closed almost makes it feel cheap. A slightly redesigned case and these would be the best!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Bose Ultra Open Earbuds They are very comfortable. The sound quality is great when I can get the earbud to my left ear situated correctly. This is the problem I am having. I can put the earbud in my right ear, seats easily, sounds great, no problem. But my left ear I have to move it up & down on my ear to get it to seat or it falls out easily and then move it more to get good sound quality. I can't tell, but maybe my ears are different. When I do finally get my left ear situated properly, they do sound great and I can still carry on a conversation with another person.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great earbuds I received the earbuds in a very nice package. These are very nice looking. Although, these are a little bigger than I initially expected. I put these on and tested to see how well these would stay on the ear. I jumped up and down and even ran around. The ear buds stayed in place. I did some yard work to see if these would slip if I got sweaty. These stayed right in place. The sound could be better as bose is known for that surround sound cinematic feeling. The case is very nice and charges the earbuds very quickly. The bose app is alright. I wish it would display the battery level of the earbuds. Right nownit gives an update only when the battery is low, or when the case is open. The App is unqiue as it can be difficult to navigate. I would like to see more options in the app. For example, battery life, tweeking the sound to have that sound bose is knownnfl for. Other than that these are very nice and I would recommend these to anyone.
