Current popular powered loudspeakers are standard two-way designs consisting of a single horn-loaded compression driver for high-frequency reproduction and a single woofer for mid- and low-mid-frequency output.

Since the Bose F1 Model 812 Loudspeaker has an array of eight high-output drivers, mid/high-frequency response is much cleaner and less harsh sounding when compared to a traditional horn.

Characteristically, horns have a fixed output pattern that isn’t adaptable to typical performance spaces. These fixed-pattern loudspeakers are commonly positioned on pole mount stands where high-frequency content is projected over listeners’ heads, making vocal intelligibility difficult.

The Bose F1 Model 812 Flexible Array is quite useful for quickly and easily adjusting the loudspeaker’s coverage for a variety of performance and listening spaces, ensuring quality reproduction without the need for complex placement.

The eight drivers on the F1 Model 812 Flexible Array are mounted on a specially designed flexible baffle that is hinged in two locations. When the array position is changed, the loudspeaker’s internal EQ automatically changes according to the array’s position: “Straight,” “C,” “J” or “Reverse J.” This allows the loudspeaker to maintain tonal balance no matter which position is used.

Yes. The high-output 12"" woofer is mounted behind the flexible array.

Yes, there is a pole cup on the bottom of the enclosure that accepts common tripod speaker stands.

For best performance, we recommend using the Bose F1 Subwoofer. However, other powered subs can be connected to the F1 Model 812 Loudspeaker.

The F1 Subwoofer is a compact bass module designed for use with the F1 Model 812 Loudspeaker. Its powerful amplifier and dual drivers produce bass as much as subs nearly double its size.

The F1 subwoofer features:

2 X 10"" high-excursion drivers
1000 watts
2 x input channel with XLR, 1/4"" combo connector
2 x XLR balanced line out
Polarity reverse switch
HPF enable

We recommend 1 sub per F1 Model 812 Loudspeaker. However, you can connect as many as needed.

Yes. Bose L1 Systems can be used in conjunction with the F1 Model 812 Loudspeaker as a supplemental fill or stage monitor.

Yes. The F1 System is compatible with the T4S and T8S Mixers.

These mixers are powerful, multichannel audio devices designed for musicians to use Bose portable Pro loudspeaker systems. They include our largest library of ToneMatch presets, proprietary EQ, a complete suite of studio-class effects and processing, and five channel inputs.

The rear panel of the F1 Model 812 Loudspeaker is equipped with XLR/TS combo jacks, a ¼"" instrument jack, and stereo RCA inputs. When an external mixer is not used, a wide variety of instruments or sources can be connected directly. Common sources include:

A dynamic microphone
An acoustic instrument with a pickup system
Electronic keyboard
Electric bass guitar
CD or MP3 player

Bags and covers are available as optional accessories.

Bose does not offer any hard shell cases.

Yes. The system can be used inside or outside. However, it must never be exposed to precipitation or extended periods of direct sunlight. In cases of light rain, take precautions to cover the back panel of the loudspeaker. Water must not get into the air inlet slits inside the back I/O panel, handle recess, or front grille.

The system has been tested to operate in temperatures from 32°–122° (0°–50° C), and be stored in temperatures from -22°–158° F (-30°–70° C).

Due to the versatility of the flexible array, the system can be used in a wide range of locations.

Yes. The F1 Model 812 Loudspeaker and F1 Subwoofer are ideal for DJs that want high power and sonic clarity in a portable system. The F1 Subwoofer’s compact design and high capability eliminate the need for transporting subwoofers twice its size. Plus, the integrated stand eliminates ugly tripod bases that expose hanging wires and create tripping hazards.

Yes. When an external mixer is not in use, an acoustic instrument equipped with a pickup system may connect directly into the F1 Model 812 System.

The F1 Model 812 and F1 Subwoofer both carry a two-year limited warranty on electronics and a five-year warranty on transducers. Both warranties are transferable with the product even if the ownership changes.

Quality performance

Engineered with a flexible array of eight high-output mid/high drivers, a high-powered 12-inch woofer, a lower crossover point and 1,000 watt amplifier, the loudspeaker delivers high SPL performance while maintaining vocal and midrange clarity that’s dramatically better than conventional loudspeakers.

How it works

The eight drivers on the F1 Model 812 Flexible Array loudspeaker are mounted on a specially designed flexible baffle. Simply push or pull the array into position to create four vertical coverage patterns: “Straight,” ”J,” “Reverse J” or “C.” Once set, the system automatically changes the EQ to maintain optimum tonal balance for each unique coverage pattern.

For extended bass

When you need more powerful bass, simply add the Bose F1 Subwoofer. It packs all the power of a larger bass box into a more compact design that’s easier to carry and fits in a car. A mounting stand for the loudspeaker is integrated right into the body of the subwoofer, so you always know where it is, making setup fast and easy. The stand even includes cable channels to neatly hide the wires.

The loudspeaker and subwoofer each have 1,000 watts of power, so you can fill nearly any venue with sound.

And now getting there is easier, too. The loudspeaker and subwoofer feature strategically placed handles for easy transportation and highly durable, lightweight composite enclosures to ensure easy transport.

Ratings and Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best of the best! We've had Bose L1 Compacts for years and just switched to the F1s. Without fail, at every concert we do, every service, every outing, our sound is consistently the best out of every group there. People come back to the table just "wowed" every time. Buy them. They won't let you down.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from All you need!!! I've been a dj for 20+ years, moving from amp racks to powered setups. Last month I purchased a pair of F1 812's with the F1 subwoofers to match. OMG!!! I own the QSC K and KW setups but this was by far the best investment for the future. I have done weddings and club venues with this setup and I've been blown away. Just did an event where the room was just shy of a gym floor and the sound was crystal clear throughout. Whats so great about these speakers is that it thumps in a room yet the crowd can still carry on a conversation without yelling. Get this, I didn't need to attach my trailer since everything fit inside my Nissan Armada...making it easy to find a parking space after setup and thats a huge plus. I figured that if I need extra thump, i would just add my QSC KW181's to the mix but oddly enough, I haven't needed them because the Bose setup has been more than enough.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally Got It! To understand my perspective on this speaker I think it would be best to start from the beginning. I am a DJ and do parties and weddings in small to large halls (100 - 250 people). * I started with the Bose L1 and 2 B1 subs. I always felt something was missing - mid-range punch and of-course, a so-so low end performance. * Then I moved on to 2 L1s Model II with 4 B1 subs. Not much of a difference. * I then swapped the 4 B1s with 2 B2 subs. I was amazed at the difference. The B2s increased the low end punch (bass) substantially but nothing close to the sound you'd hear in a club. You can hear the bass but won't feel it. * Then I swapped the B2s with 2 EV ZXA1 subs. Now you are talking! Pheeew. I was almost there. The combination of the 2 L1 Model Il and 2 EV ZXA1 was awesome. But I was still missing the kind of Mid-range punch you'd hear in a club. * Then I got the F1 speakers. I THINK I FINALLY GOT IT!! I have not tried them with F1 Subs and am not willing to because this is it for me. The F1 is clear, loud and has the mid-range clarity and punch you'd hear in any club. With the ZXA1 sub the sound and punch was unbelievable. Just did a wedding in a mid-size hall with about 125 guests using only 1 F1 and a ZXA1 and it felt like I had 2 sets of speakers. The flexible array of the F1 is a nice touch. The sound filled the whole room. Clear and punchy even though I did not turn it up much. The ZXA1 of-course did its thing. I'd assume that the F1 subs would be the same based on other reviews but I am comfortable with the ZXA1s.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unbelievable Sound from a Small Package. Really impressed by the full sound and the sharp vocals, This speaker truly reproduces the sound of the music, I have not cranked these up yet and nor will I likely, these speakers are ideal for a small venue such as a wedding, or church service, I was most impressed by the dynamics of this speaker at low volumes, and when I turned it up, it was remarkable that the sound was loud and absolutely smooth. When I started as a DJ I started with the BOSE 901's and then the 802's Music evolved and I went to folded horn designs from Klipsh, JBL, and Peavey, as horn speakers got smaller I have been favoring Peavey, and recently I have switched to powered speakers by EV, wanting to expand upon this I ventured back to Bose, and just as the BOSE 901's excited me all those years ago, I find myself once again elated by the sound of the BOSE F! 812!!!
